Cannes 2012: 'Cut Bank' With Armie Hammer, John Malkovitch Attracts a Slew of Thriller Seekers

TV and theater director Matt Shakman's turn at the big screen with Cut Bank, starring Armie Hammer, John Malkovitch, Ben Kingsley, Michael Sheen and Teresa Palmer, is proving a hot draw at the Marche du Film.

EOne Film International, the international sales division of Canada's Entertainment One, has inked a slew of deals on the project described as a
thriller, which made it onto the Black List of hot unproduced properties.
The sales division sold the project to Koch Media for German-speaking Europe, Gussi took it for Latin America and Golem picked up Spanish rights.
Elsewhere, Lusomundo sealed a deal for Portugal, Kinoswait will take it to Polish audiences and Falcon picked it up for the Middle East. A spokesperson for EOne said other territories are expected on the project "to close shortly."
Ed Zwick, whose resume boasts work on Shakespeare In Love and The Last Samurai will produce alongside Mickey Barold and Dan Cohen. Laura Rister, who had a major hand in the Festival de Cannes Competition title Lawless, along with exec credits on other titles such as Margin Call and The Words, executive produces.
The movie will shoot this fall after Hammer finishes work on the upcoming Lone Ranger in which he stars alongside Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.
