Toronto 2012: Michael Fassbender Set to Star in Rock Comedy 'Frank'

Michael Fassbender and Domhnall Gleeson are set to star in Lenny Abrahamson's rock star comedy Frank.

Film4 will co-finance the film with the Irish Film Board. Protagonist Pictures will introduce the project to foreign buyers at the Toronto Film Festival, which gets underway Sept. 6.

Jon Ronson (The Men Who Stare at Goats) and Peter Straughan (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, The Men Who Stare at Goats) penned the script.

The story revolves around a wanna be musician (Gleeson) who discovers he's bitten off more than he can chew when joining an eccentric pop band led by the mysterious and enigmatic Frank (Fassbender).

Frank film is a co-production between Runaway Fridge and Element Pictures and will be produced by David Barron, Ed Guiney and Stevie Lee. Executive producers for Film4 are Tessa Ross and Katherine Butler and for Element Pictures, Andrew Lowe.

Abrahamson is set to begin shooting late this year.
