Stephen Frears, Jim Sheridan, John Boorman Line Up For Ireland Film Symposium

LONDON Filmmakers Stephen Frears, Jim Sheridan, John Boorman and Thaddeus OSullivanjoin an already glittering guest list of speakers booked for the inaugural John Ford Ireland Film Symposium, an event to celebrate the life and work of the iconic director, in June.

Other names rostered include Oscar winning editor Joel Cox, filmmakerBrian Kirkand writers Pat McCabe, Colin Bateman, Ian Power and Eoghan Harris as well as composers Christopher Caliendo and Kyle Eastwood and Irelands living screen legend Maureen OHara.

The inaugural event opens June 7 with an opening night gala screening of Fords silent epic The Iron Horse.

What is hoped becomes an annual shindig is set up by the Irish Film And Television Academy, the John Ford Estate and the Irish government and the first event.

It runs June 7 through June 10 in Dublin and will play host to a series of screenings and special events.

Organizers previously announced they have lined up a public interview and master class with filmmaker Peter Bogdanovich (The Last Picture Show) who knew Ford and made a documentary Directed by John Ford, which includes rare interviews with Ford, Henry Fonda, James Stewart and Clint Eastwood.
