Ausfilm Appoints New Independent Chairman

SYDNEY- Ausfilm, Australias locations marketing agency, has named former national arts and trade minister Bob McMullen as the organizations first independent chairman, it was announced Tuesday during Ausfilm Week in London.

McMullen, who takes up the position from current chairman Alaric McAusland, will be based in London, where he is a director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development representing Australia, Korea, New Zealand and Egypt.

McAusland said that McMullen "brings an excellent understanding of the international community and marketplace and an ongoing passion for the Arts, to the newly created role.

Bobs depth of experience and knowledge will guide Ausfilm as it continues to engage with the international film and television community to market all that Australia has to offer, he added.

Speaking at Ausfilm Week London, McMullan said: I have always valued the combined economic and cultural importance of the film and television industry and am keen to contribute to the work of Ausfilm and the Australian industry.

Ausfilms two major international events take place in London in May and Los Angeles in October.

Ausfilm Week London is focussed on developing co-production opportunities between Australian and UK producers for both feature film and high-end television.

Ausfilm's membership includes all the major state and federal film agencies as well as 25 private sector companies.
