Davy Jones Dead

He suddenly gave up the ghost in his sleep yesterday morning following a vast heart attack.

But photos have currently emerged of The Monkees star Davy Jones wanting healthy and happy at an autographing session just over a fortnight ago.

The lead singer of the Nineteen Sixties group died at his home in Florida at the age of sixty six on Wednesday morning.

Stars together with Eva Longoria, Boy George and Nancy Sinatra have all taken to Twitter to express their shock and sadness at his passing.

And seen in photos that have emerged of him just a fortnight ago, the singer looked tanned and filled with life.

The singer was appearing at the quarterly 'Hollywood show' autograph session in Burbank, California on 11 February alongside alternative star greeters together with Harry Potter's Tom Felton and yank Pie actress Shannon Elizabeth.

Jones joined The Monkees in 1965 ... along side Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork ... and along they churned out a bunch of hits together with, "Daydream Believer, "Last Train to Clarksville" and "I'm a Believer."

The group was initially cast by TV producers who wanted to create a scripted series about an actual rock n' roll band.

UPDATE -- A rep for Davy tells TMZ the singer died from a heart attack this morning.
