Reese Witherspoon on the mend after being hit by a car

Reese Witherspoon suffered minor injuries when she was hit by a car while jogging in Santa Monica, police said Wednesday.

Witherspoon was struck around eleven a.m. during a residential neighborhood. the motive force of the car, an 84-year-old girl who'd been traveling regarding twenty mph, was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian during a crosswalk.

The actress was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment, police said. She was not seriously injured and by the afternoon was resting comfortably at her Brentwood-area home, her rep said during a statement.

Police say the motive force was an 84-year-old girl from Santa Monica.

Witherspoon won an Oscar for her role in "Walk the line."

She married Hollywood agent Jim Toth earlier this year.

She has two kids with ex-husband, actor Ryan Phillippe.

In June, she took home the Generation Award at MTV's Movie Awards, saying to thunderous applause, "I understand it's cool to be bad, i get it -- but it is also doable to create it in Hollywood while not a reality show."
