Christine O'Donnell walks out on CNN's Piers Morgan

Miss O'Donnell, 41, rode last year's Tea Party wave to win the Republican nomination for the US Senate seat in Delaware vacated by Joe Biden when he became Vice-President.

She inflicted a shock defeat on Mike Castle, the mainstream Republican candidate, who had served nine terms within the US House of Representatives after being governor of the state.

But within the general election, she turned a race that had looked winnable to many Republicans into a thumping victory for her Democratic opponent, Chris Coons, who won by 57 per cent to forty per cent.

Tea Party favorite Christine O'Donnell walked out of an interview with CNN last night after Piers Morgan asked the previous Delaware Senate candidate her views concerning gay marriage.

O'Donnell, who is promoting her new book, called the CNN host "rude" and said she had agreed to return on the show to speak concerning Troublemaker: Let's Do What it Takes to create America nice again.

Morgan had played clips from O'Donnell's past, as well as when she once said she dabbled in witchcraft, then proclaimed in an exceedingly Senate campaign ad that she wasn't a witch.

"'I'm promoting the policies that I laid out within the book that are largely fiscal, that are largely constitutional," she said. "That's why I agreed to return on your show. that's what i need to speak concerning. i'm not being weird. you are being a trifle rude."

On Twitter, O'Donnell fired off a couple of zingers toward Morgan.



She tweeted that she agreed to appear on the show solely because Morgan "promised to not hack my cellphone," a reference to the British tabloid phone-hacking scandal. Morgan, a former editor of The Daily Mirror, has said he knew nothing concerning the illegal phone hacking.

"No exhausting feelings you cheeky bugger," O'Donnell says in another tweet, as she declined an invite to appear on the show again.

She then discovered her own media consultancy before making 3 attempts at the Delaware senate seat. In 2006 she finished third within the Republican primary. In 2008 she lost the final election to Mr Biden.

Her book 'Troublemaker: Let's Do What It Takes to create America nice Again' has recently been printed. She has declined to say whether or not she plans to run for office again.
